Squares for Japan

Just a quick post today to let you know about Hawthorn at 11am (who I found through Andrea at Apples and Pears).  Hawthorn is collecting granny squares and will be sewing up blankets to send to Japan's disaster victims.  Thank you, Hawthorn, for coordinating this thoughtful effort.

I'm almost ready to send my squares...

Have a good day :-)

Crochet Bouquet

What fun to receive your comments on my last post about my pups.  Your dog stories brought me big smiles!  Thank you!

To celebrate Spring's arrival, I pulled out Crochet Bouquet and made some flowers out of this book.

A good collection of flower and leaf patterns ranging from easy to not-so-easy.  I've had this book for months and looked through it quite a few times, but didn't actually make anything from it until recently.

I went for the easiest of patterns first.  The five-petal can be the basis for compiling layered flowers, but I love the simplicity of these little ones.  The process was enjoyable and relaxing.  I could sit and make these all day long with endless colors.
I really wanted to just keep going with the simple five-petals, but was feeling guilty for not trying another pattern from the book.  After all, I did spend money on it and there are lots and lots of fancy flower patterns to be found here.

Soooooo...I attempted the Pansy pattern.  These were definitely more involved.
I struggled a bit with the pattern and had to unravel several times.  While I like a challenge now and then, I was SO ready to give up on these.  Usually you get the hang of it after the first couple tries, but I continued to struggle and kept losing my place in the pattern.  Frustrating as it was, I was determined to finish the first one and then struggled again to finish a second one.

Enough was enough and here they are.  I'm afraid I will not attempt this one again anytime soon!
Happy Spring blooms to you :-)

Mischievous Mutts

My pups.  They look sweet.  They look innocent.  Ha!  Check out what these darling little creatures are capable of...

They will eat, chew or take a bite out of anything...ANYTHING...when you're not watching.

The minute your back is turned...they're into something they shouldn't be.

Most of the time I just roll with it.  Then there are days when they truly test my patience.  I come home from work and see this...yup...a down-filled cushion on our sofa.  Count to 10 and b-r-e-a-t-h...

They especially seem to prefer teenage boys' socks (gross), boxer shorts (ick), jock straps (eeewwww) that are casually tossed on bedroom floors.  Decided to spare you those photos.

YOU are ALL in BIG TROUBLE...

Well okay, not really.

The truth is, you each chose me and stole my heart the minute I looked at your faces.

Have a mischief-free day...or not?  :-)

Sunday Serenity

A new week begins...and I had a rare opportunity for me-time at home today.  The Boys had things to do elsewhere and amazingly enough, for several hours, I found myself alone in the house.  Not much planned.  Just me and the Dogs.

A late, lazy breakfast.  Just for me.

Loving my potted tulips and enjoying the solitude.

And what would solitary time be without a little hooking?!

In no time, the Boys were home and the house was a buzz once more...

Have a great week :-)
